River of Life Ministries:   A ministry of the Brownington Center Church

River of Life Volunteers and Staff for Summer 2010!

River of Life

River of Life is a ministry to young people throughout the Northeastern United States. We have a unique ministry right here in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We seek out children and teens that do not know Christ...as well as children who are from broken and shattered homes. We are looking for counselors who are ministry minded. A summer at River of Life IS fun but because of the nature of this outreach to the hurting it requires those who are serious about affecting their world for Jesus Christ. As a counselor at River of Life you will have many opportunities to share your testimony and your faith with children and teens who know very little about God or Jesus Christ.

There are a variety of different ministry opportunities at River of Life. We are currently looking for counselors who are serious about their walk with Christ and their impact on the world around them. A counselor has oversight of four campers throughout the week. They play with the campers, learn with them, cry with them and most of all share their faith. They are responsible for assessing each camper under their care and giving biblical counsel that will help that camper either come to Christ or grow in their walk with Christ. We have opportunities for one week or for multiple weeks. Counselors  and staff who come for the training week and the full six weeks of camp are eligible for a bi-weekly stipend.

We are also looking for a head male counselor and a head female counselor. Their jobs are to work in conjunction with the director and the program director to oversee the counseling staff. These positions are for the full seven weeks of camp. We are looking for individuals who are, at a minimum, in their junior year of college (20 years or older). They will be responsible for helping the staff grow in their walk with Christ throughout the summer.

Last, but not least, we are looking for a maintenance crew supervisor. The maintenance crew supervisor will oversee our high school volunteers who are here at camp to keep things ship shape, well groomed and sparkling! They will also oversee their spiritual growth.

Wow ... you mean I actually can get paid to be a
River of Life Counselor?! That's right! You can choose to flip burgers at a local restaurant or you can make a few bucks serving God by helping young men and women learn about Jesus Christ. After you get in your application, we will ask you to provide us with at least 35 names and addresses of potential supporters. We will send a personal note from you and a letter from the director to those potential supporters to help you raise your salaries for the summer. All of the monies raised by staff are placed in a common purse and summer checks will be  paid out of that fund. So begin putting together your list of names and addresses. More names and addresses translate into a greater benefit for everyone so don't delay.
